Dulas’ solar powered DVD player is innovative equipment that allows remote areas without electricity access to a training tool that both fascinates and educates its audience. It minimises the costs of training and maximises the number of people reached by one extension worker using quality information.
Developed in 2006 for the SafeHands for Mothers campaign in Southern Ethiopia, the equipment is providing support and training to mothers in areas where the maternal mortality rates are high. SafeHands trainers find it an excellent educational tool encouraging interactive training in all aspects of pregnancy from prenatal to postnatal care, bringing direct benefits to mothers in real terms.
